Raven Field Archers

To help ensure the tranquility and natural character of the woodland, field archery is the only organised recreational activity held at elfwoods.

Field archery involves shooting fixed targets set at varying angles and distances in a natural setting. This truly tests the archer’s skill, with the added challenge of assessing distance, and navigating uneven terrain.

Our members shoot a range of bows including freestyle/Olympic recurve, compound, barebow, traditional recurve, Asiatic bow (“horsebow”), longbow, American flat bow and crossbow.

New club members are always welcome, as well as those just wishing to experience field archery.

Visitor archers are welcome but due to restricted numbers and safety requirements, must contact the club to book.

Who are we?

Raven Field Archers are a friendly field archery club for both adults and children, registered with Archery GB and the National Field Archery Society (NFAS).

Field Archery at elfwoods

Raven Field Archers have a long history of archery in the beautiful elfwoods. We offer courses at unmarked and marked distances. Our marked distance practice range is also suitable for disabled archers.

Our woodland courses consist of both 3D targets, animal faces and 24 mixed World Archery (FITA) target bosses that are shot all year round.

Disabled Archers

As an inclusive club, the Ravens strive to enable disabled archers to enjoy the same benefits of the woodland environment, including one-to-one coaching and improving access for a fun field shooting experience.

We also run disabled archery practice at elfwoods. Disabled club members and disabled visitor archers, with their agents, can shoot on Saturdays and Sundays.

Please contact us for accessibility information.

Beginner courses

During the Spring and Summer, our coaches run training courses for beginners aged 10+ who are interested in joining the club, or would like to try field archery.

The course runs over six sessions, with all equipment provided.

The course will be run on consecutive Sunday mornings.

Please note that children aged 10-18 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult who stays for the duration of each session.
